Updated Heat of Battle Banner

Well, I've updated the banner for the Heat of Battle web site. Similar to the picture I've posted before, but this time complete with the lettering.

Daily Sketches 1

Well, it has been a little over a week since I've posted anything, the main reason being that I've become an Uncle, for the first time! My brother and his wife had a beautiful baby girl this last Saturday, the 9th, and I couldn't be more excited! Things have been a little hectic on the home and work front, also, but I am takin' a little breather. So, I've scanned in a few sketches, almost doodles, that I've done during breaks at work. Nothin' fancy, nothin' super polished. Just a #2 pencil and some paper.

As you can see, I was already drawin' Green Lantern (from last week) and since I mentioned both The Flash and Kid Flash, I drew them, also ... and Colossus from the X-Men. I'm not sure why I drew Colossus except perhaps because my oldest son and I watched the X-Men movies, 1&2, over the weekend. Yeah, that's it.

... No Evil Shall Escape My Sight ...

Another Green Lantern drawing, though just a sketch this time.
Heh, the more I look at it, the more I realize that he's a bit more "buff" than Green Lantern really should be. Time for some testin', if you know what I mean. ;-)

In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night ...

What better superhero to have on a GREEN Eggs and Art blog than Green Lantern? Ol' GL was my third favorite superhero when I was a kid, behind Kid Flash/Flash (yeah, I count them as one) and Spider-Man. In my (young) mind, Green Lantern was a superhero that I actually had a shot of becoming! I mean, chances are I wasn't gonna get super speed from being doused with chemicals after a lightning strike, and there weren't that many radioactive spiders around, but a Power Ring? Heck, surely one of THOSE would fall outta outer space and I'd be the one to find it!

Well, needless to say, that didn't happen, and as I reached my pre-teen years I read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and found out that, well, finding a Ring of Power might not be the best thing to happen after all. Still, Green Lantern was cool, so here he is.

Now that I think about it, perhaps that's why I've never liked the color yellow. Hmmm ...

Egg-Man and Bat Boy

Everyone at the CoDBoards forums knows that Midnight Rider carries a bat ... or two. It's the kind of inside joke that will have you shaking your head right now if you don't know what I'm talkin' about, and chances are pretty good that ya don't. That's ok, it's not that important. Suffice to say, if MR were a superhero, he'd still be carrying that bat, so I decided to illustrate it. Unfortunately, MR is relegated to "sidekick" status, because even with the bat he isn't as awesome as the mighty Egg-Man. Then again, who is?

Little Eggs MkI™ ... In a Field of Flowers?

Painted for my wife, for our fifth wedding anniversary, I managed to make our little son look about four years older than he actually was at the time. If I could really see into the future THAT well, I'd have won a few lotteries by now.

Heat of Battle Web Site

Heat of Battle! A Mod for Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This is a banner I painted for the Heat of Battle web site. The final banner has a few more elements, including a title, of course, but here is the artwork in the raw. I tried to get the Marines' uniforms and weapons to be the same as in the game, with the exception of the middle Marine, whose helmet is a bit different (though regular U.S. Military issue).

Kobold Shaman

I believe this is 'bout the time I was playin' a lot of Bioware's Neverwinter Nights on my computer. You could upload your own portraits into the game for your characters, though I don't recall that Kobolds were a player character option. Actually, I'm sure they weren't. Regardless, here is a Kobold Shaman casting some kind of "Seeing-Eye" spell ... or something like that.

Urgoth: Underdark Warrior

We go back several years for this one. The Urgoth, a creature created for Bastion Press's Minions: Fearsome Foes, a Dungeons & Dragons companion book. The creature, created by a friend of mine and myself, made it into the book. My artwork, however, did not. No big deal, all that means is: copyright free! ;-)'

That's a drow's scimitar he's usin' as a dagger, a drow cloak for a loincloth and a drow skull for his "bling." Yeah, they're pretty tough, considerin' they look like a long lost cousin of Sid & Marty Kroft's Sigmund the Sea Monster. And, yes, that's an OLD reference. Considering he ended up lookin' like a giant chicken-man in the actual book, I think he'd prefer Sigmund.

Hulk Smash Small Rock!

Since it's still slightly topical, I'll start off with a sketch of the Incredible Hulk. Why draw in white, on a black background? Well, it looked cool at the time. :-)

Welcome to the '00s ... for me

Welcome to the Green Eggs and Art Blog. It's my first attempt at a blog, so bear with me. I've mainly set this up to toss out some of my artwork, mainly sketches, up on the web rather than use up space in the various forums I frequent. It won't be an "artwork a day" thing, but hopefully there will be a few pieces per month.

I've decided to keep this strictly featuring artwork and not make any comments on anything political, controversial, celebrity, etc. The internet needs more of those types of blogs like I need a hole in my head ... or another overused cliché. Well, what about blogs/web pages featuring artwork? Aren't there enough of those? Naw. I always enjoy lookin' at other people's stuff and perhaps you'll enjoy lookin' at mine. If not, hey, that's fine, also.

Anyway, if ya choose to comment on the artwork, please keep it clean, and remember, most of these will be sketches in various stages of completion, as opposed to finished artwork, so it ain't gonna be perfect.
